Last week hundreds of parents, teachers, community members and elected officials turned out on the steps of the New York Public Library in support of public education. The rally was arranged to send a message to Governor Cuomo that the recent budget deal which provides major provisions to charter schools including access to increased per pupil funding, gauranteed space in public facilities, and unprecidented growth oppotunities for existing networks is a largly unfunded mandate that will only harm our most vulnerable students. It was a truly amazing turn out and the beginning of great things to come.
