D1 community members are encouraged to attend to learn more about how decisions were made regarding UPK expansion here in D1, including the seats added at our local Community Based Organizations. Parents, Schools and organizations directly impacted by these decisions are encouraged to attend and provide input directly to DoE reps who will be present. We will also be holding a CEC Meet & Greet. Come learn more about our members and how to can join the CEC in the upcoming election cycle. Applications are open now!

School Diversity Initiative
- Session III – School Diversity Workshop – February 28th – 1:45-5pm – PS 20 Anna Silver
You are invited to be a part of an important community wide process to address the increased stratification by race, class and achievement in D1. We need your voice and perspective to help develop a solution to this issue so that our schools can be equitable and accessible to all families. Schools in this session include PS 15 * PS 188 * PS 137 * PS 134 * PS 110 * Shuang Wen * Henry St * UNMS * CASTLE * PS 140 * PS 142 * NEST. Each school is requested to send 5-7 representatives to share in this process. There are also open slots available for community members who missed their scheduled work shop date! - Neighborhood School Diversity Committee Meeting – February 11th – 8:30 am – Neighborhood School (121 East 3rd)
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the need for the NYC DOE to implement a Diversity based Admission Policy for District One schools and having a rally. At the prior meeting, we decided how we will go about securing help from other educators and parents outside of TNS to participate in a rally to persuade the Mayor and the School Chancellor that a Diversity based Admission Policy for District One school is good for all.
